Career day at surf side projects
For my career day I worked alongside Steve Holies, who finds older houses and contracts people to revamp them into modern, sustainable homes.
Expectations:
My expectation for this career day was that we would be driving around a lot looking at possible projects and construction sites. I also expected that we would meet with some of his foremen, architects, and engineers. One thing that i really expected was that Steve would have a really flexible schedule depending on what he is working on.

This was a typical work day for Steve. We drove to a home he had recently purchased and discussed plans for its renovation. then we looked at some houses he had already built and checked in with his partners. then we went to his house where he looked at floor plans for another house with his structural engineer.
Reflection:
This was a really fun career day that gave me a lot of insight as to what its like to run your own company. Steve is a very nice man and an excellent businessmen, because he does not work for anyone and he makes money by paying out of pocket. He does not do custom houses and his mantra is fun and functional. overall I really enjoyed seeing what it is like to own your own business and what it takes to be successful.
